The Innovators Council: call for ideas
The purpose of the Innovators Council is to champion innovation in public services - it will be a forum for people to make suggestions for reform and challenge thinking in public service design and delivery. Have you got ideas about how people delivering public services can work better together? Have you spotted areas of duplication in public services which could be cut out? The Innovators Council is looking for ideas to make public services more efficient by building them around the needs of citizens, cutting out the waste and changing ways of working together. The Council will be meeting for the first time on 24th June and if your idea makes it onto the shortlist you will be invited to come along and take part. If your idea can be explained in a few words, you can let us know on the Public Experience website. If what you are suggesting is more complicated you can send it by e-mail or post it to Room 1.17, Admiralty Arch, Lonson SW1A 2WH.

National Innovation and Improvement Survey – deadline 8th June 2009
The NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement has launched the first nationwide Innovation and Improvement survey specifically designed for the NHS. It offers all NHS staff an opportunity to influence the national innovation and improvement agenda and inform the programmes of work that happen at national and regional level in the NHS over the next year. The survey, which is open to all NHS staff, takes about 10 minutes to complete and is live until 8th June. Results will only be analysed at nationwide and SHA level and will not be analysed at the level of an individual NHS organisation or team. All responses will be anonymous and no individual responses will be shared. It will not be possible for anyone to identify respondents as a result of the survey. When the survey is complete, everyone who has completed the survey will have the option to view their results in comparison to the overall responses.

Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) payment framework
The key aim of the CQUIN framework is to support a shift towards the vision set out in High Quality Care for All, where quality is the organising principle. The framework helps make quality part of the commissioner-provider discussion everywhere. This site contains examples of existing quality schemes that were in operation prior to the introduction of the CQUIN payment framework, and will publish examples of new CQUIN schemes, as they develop.

The Lab: innovating public services
The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) has created The Lab to provide the freedom, flexible capital and expertise to undertake radical experiments. It tests out new ways of finding and spreading the best ideas. It is not a physical space or an institution, but a series of practical projects, informed by research and delivered in partnership with those that run and use public services.

TED is a means of sharing stories of innovation. It stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out in 1984, as a conference bringing together from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become even broader, including business and science. The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers who are challenged to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. The site makes the best talks and performances from TED available to the public for free.

TED is looking for the inaugural class of TEDGlobal Fellows to participate in the TEDGlobal Conference in Oxford, UK. Following the successful Fellows program launch in Long Beach, California, they are looking for the next eclectic group of 25 innovators from around the world. Calls for interest: Knowledge synthesis on patient and public involvement in guideline development
The Canadian Institute of Health Research is funding a knowledge synthesis on effective strategies for patient and public involvement in specific contexts of guideline development and implementation. The authors are looking for documents that evaluate or describe patient and public involvement programs in clinical practice guideline development and implementation.
